Special evening to celebrate history
A special evening celebrating our local history will highlight the role played by Sligo Rovers in our town and county since the club was founded.
Chair of Sligo Rovers Heritage Group Aidan Mannion will deliver a short presentation, and the Group will also host an exhibition of club mementoes and artefacts in the theatre foyer.
The event takes at the Hawk’s Well Theatre at 7.30pm on Wednesday next 27th July, admission € 10, and the programme also includes a contribution from local historian and author John McTernan of the County Sligo Heritage & Genealogy Society.
The Sligo Rovers exhibition will be on display from 6.30pm and Aidan Mannion welcomes the opportunity to showcase the club beyond the immediate soccer community.
“The previous exhibitions we hosted in Sligo Museum and in the Northside Centre attracted great interest, and I hope Sligo Rovers supporters and the wider public come along on Wednesday next.
“The people of Sligo have a strong affinity with the club, they have a genuine interest in our past, and they have also shown a great loyalty to help the club survive through the many difficult times we experienced over the years.
“The exhibition and talk at the Hawk’s Well will offer a brief snapshot of our fascinating and storied history.”
