DRAMA EN PLEIN AIR

Once again the Blue Raincoat Theatre Company will be performing one of Yeats’ Plays in an open air setting; on this occasion it is ‘ The Cat and the Moon’, which will be performed on Saturday, August 6, at 6 p. m. at Dooney Rock on the shore of Lough Gill.

The play depicts two beggars, one blind and one lame, who travel to the well of St Coleman hoping to be cured of their afflictions. St Coleman gives both beggars a choice between being cured or blessed. Written in 1926 ‘ The Cat and the Moon’ is one of WB Yeats’ now famous series of mask plays.

Those of us who attended last year’s performance of ‘ At the Hawk’s Well’, atop of O’Rourke’s Table in Newtownmanor, know that we will not be disappointed if we attend this forthcoming production. Admission is free.

For those who would wish to see the play prior to its outdoor performance, The Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, now in its 25th Year ( 1991- 2016), are also presenting ‘ The Cat and the Moon’, each Monday to Friday lunchtime ( 1 p. m. to 10 p. m.) of the prior two weeks ( July 25 to July 29 and 1- August 5) cost Euro 10 at the Factory Space, Sligo.
