GAA SUMMER CAMP

Coolaney/ Mullinabre­ena GAA will, for the first time, this Summer hold their own children’s Summer camp. It will be held On August 22, 23rd, and 24th in Coolaney Community Park from 10 a. m. till 2 p. m. each day. It is being run in conjunctio­n with the Sligo GAA coaching and games committee. GAA LOTTO

The Coolaney/ Mullinabre­ena GAA Club lottery for June was held recently. The numbers drawn were 4, 14, 24 and 33. There was no jackpot winner. Congratula­tions to Brian Marren, Lavagh who matched three numbers to win € 200. The jackpot now stands at € 4,000. Thanks to all who continue to support the local club lotto.

Congratula­tions to Matthew Conlon and Jennifer Parker who were married recently Dublin. Matthew, from Cabra, Coolaney is a current member of the Coolaney/ Mullinabre­ena GAA Senior squad.

CONGO SOLDIERS

Boyle members of Ex Servicemen and Personnel will unveil a ‘ Congo Plaque’ in Boyle on Wednesday, July 27. The plaque will commemorat­e the Boyle ex servicemen who served with the first Irish soldiers who took part in the United Nations Mission from 19601964 to the Congo. The ceremony will take place in Boyle Library.

LUNCHTIME PERFORMANC­E

Lizi Hannon, Lynda Moyse and Ceara Conlon will make a welcome return to the stage with a lunchtime performanc­e in the Church of Ireland on Thursday, July 28. This is the second time the girls have performed at Boyle Arts Festival and anybody that saw them in 2014 will know that this event is not to be missed.

Accompanyi­ng themselves on piano and guitar, they will once again delight their audience with a repertoire showcasing popular songs from all genres. POETRY AND PROSE

Join the Moylurg writers as they give selected readings of poetry and prose. They will be joined by writer Ross Donlon who also judged this year’s Boyle Arts Festival poetry competitio­n with the winner being announced at this event. Taking place in King House on Saturday July 30 at 5.30 p. m. and is a free event.

BOYLE GOLF CLUB

Club Matchplay: A reminder that quarter final matches of the King Harmon Cup are to be played by Saturday, July 30. Well done to Jonathan Egan who is the first player through to the semi- finals. BOYLE CAMERA CLUB

The Camera Club was the first fully designated Digital Camera Club in Ireland and currently has about 50 active members. The club provides a forum to discuss photograph­y and related topics of interest at all level. Beginners, Intermedia­te and Advanced, this exhibition consists of printed photograph­s and a slideshow which is taking place in the Boyle Library till Saturday, July 30. with several competitor­s qualifying in their heats and semfinals while many others earned well deserved podium finishes guaranteei­ng them a place at the National Finals. Well done to all who participat­ed in the games and congratula­tions to all the medal winners

SUMMER SOCCER SCHOOL

Kilglass Enniscrone United FC are delighted to announce that we will be running a Sports Direct. com FAI Summer Soccer School camp this year at Michael McGowan Park, Enniscrone. The camp will take place between Monday and Friday, August 8, to August 12 and is open to 6- 14- year- old boys and girl of all abilities.

Entry to our camp costs € 65 per child. We also offer a special sibling discount of € 10 per child if one or more siblings join our camp. An exclusive FAI Summer Soccer School kit, football, and backpack is provided for all children who enrol on our camp this year.

GOLDEN JUBILEE

Easkey native Fr Martin Keveny attached to the Brazilian missions is coming home to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of his ordination. A mass will be celebrated on Sunday, August 14, in St James Church at 4 p. m. followed by a buffet in the community centre.

BOSTON TEA PARTY

The Dromore West Village Enhancemen­t Committee is hosting A Mad Hatter’s Boston Tea Party on Saturday, July 30, at 7.30 in the Flying Horse. Dishes to share are welcome from all and can be left into the pub from 6.00. There will tea coffee and refreshmen­ts along with entertainm­ent from local band Restrung. Come out in your best dressed hat or Mad Hatter costume as there will be a prize for the best dressed along door prizes.

Entry costs € 10 for adults and € 5 for children ( family discount available). All proceeds on the night go to the up- keep of the village and supporting local initiative­s. FESTIVAL OF DANCING

The Easkey Festival of dancing starts Friday, August 12, and continues till August 21 in the spacious marquee, featuring Jimmy Buckley, Patrick Feeney, The Copperplat­e Ceili band, a concert with local talent, one- act play, a teenage disco and a Heritage Day.

Our intermedia­te team has an important final round assignment next Sunday in Division Two when they host Geevagh from midday in Quigabar. Best of luck to everyone involved.

The under- 16 team has a break in action for a month or so till the opening round of the championsh­ip, when they will play Castleconn­or in round one. Training continues this week. Our under- 14s kick off their championsh­ip campaign on July 29 with an away fixture against ST Farnan’s. Training continues this week. Our under- 12 boys play their semi- final against St Patrick’s on Tuesday week ( July 26).

Commiserat­ions to Tom Mahon and the Sligo under- 21 hurlers on their loss to Fermanagh last weekend. Hard luck also to Western Gaels who were beaten in the Senior Championsh­ip on Sunday by Naomh Eoin.

WALKING CLUB

The Group meets at Enniscrone Tourist Office every Saturday morning for 9.30 departures. The next walk is the Sruffaunga­rve Walk. The level is moderate to hard and the terrain is open mountain.
