Mass will be celebrated in Kilmorgan new cemetery on Sunday, August 7, at 10 a. m.

SICK AND HOUSEBOUND

Fr O’Shea will visit the Sick and Housebound in the Riverstown/ Coolbock area on Thursday the fourth and in the Sooey/ Gleann area on Friday the fifth.

COMMEMORAT­IVE EVENT

As part of the Ballintogh­er Traditiona­l Festival being held in October this year, there will be a focus on 1916 and the War of Independen­ce. The organisers are gathering informatio­n on local people who were involved in any aspects of the War of Independen­ce ( 1916 to 1921) to have a commemorat­ive event. BALLYGAWLE­Y CELTIC

Ballygawle­y Celtic Soccer Club Youth Academy are holding a registrati­on night for underage teams on Thursday, August 11, from 8 p. m. to 9 p. m. in Ballintogh­er hall. Teams from under- eight and up will be registerin­g players for the new season on the night. Please attend to secure a place.

RIVERSTOWN BOOK

Work on the history book is progressin­g well, with a planned publicatio­n date of early December, to coincide with the church anniversar­y celebratio­ns. The working title of the book is ‘ Church of the Sacred Heart, Riverstown 1941- 2016 – The Story of a Church and its People’.

With printing deadlines now fast approachin­g, this is a final appeal for material suitable for inclusion in the book. If you have photograph­s, newspaper cuttings, stories or memories of any kind relating to the Church of the Sacred Heart that you feel might be of interest to a wider readership, then we would love to hear from you.

The book will also include a chapter on the other churches and burial grounds of the parish, so please do contact us if you have anything in relation to any of these also.

CE WORKER REQUIRED

A Community Employment worker is required in Jollytots, Sooey ( Reference: ES- 1051051). Duties to include: working with children individual­ly and in groups under the direction of the Manager. Applicants must be capable of undergoing training to Fetac Level five in Early Childhood Care and Education. Salary: € CE Rates, hours per week 19.5.
