FR BRENDAN’S ORDINATION

Sunday, July 24, last saw the Ordination of Fr Brendan McCarrick take place in the parish of Achonry/ Mullinabreena. Brendan was ordained by Bishop Brendan Kelly in the Church of the Sacred Heart Mullinabreena to a large crowd of invited guests. The Sligo Cathedral Choir provided the powerful musical accompaniment on the day. It was a great occasion for Brendan, for his proud parents James and Mary and his entire family who attended in great numbers.

Fr Brendan’s first Mass was held in the same venue on Monday evening, July 25. The local choir ably provided the musical accompaniment on this occasion. A packed church of parishioners joined in the celebration and a reception was held in St Nathy’s Hall afterwards. A presentation was made by the Parish committee on the night also. Best wishes are extended to Fr Brendan who now jets off to Detriot, Michigan, USA to take up his placement with the Pallottine community.

Great credit goes to the Fr Peter Gallagher and of course the whole parish committee for coming together to organise the event. From the local choir, who practised diligently for weeks, to the ushers, car park attendants, caterers and everyone who assisted in any way in co- celebrating the big event in the parish. It’s great to see the people of the community working in unison to make such an event a great success.
