1 RYAN SHERIDAN In what is sure to be one of the gigs of the summer, Ryan Sheridan come to the Garavogue bar on Friday 5th August. The Irish artist, who has achieved internatio­nal recognitio­n, playing packed arenas all over the world come to the Sligo venue as part of the Sligo Festival. Sure to be a full house, entry is free with Ryan taking the stage at 11pm.

2 THE STUNNING The Stunning, one of Ireland’s favourite and best selling bands, are going to be brewing up a storm in Stephen St. Carpark on Saturday the 6th of August. Set to be one of the highlights of the upcoming Sligo Festival, you’re not going to want to miss these iconic Irish performers. The outdoor show begins at 7pm and entry will be free.

3 THE CAT AND THE MOON W. B Yeats’ play The Cat and the Moon is having a very special outdoor performanc­e on Saturday 6th August as part of the Tread Softly festival. Taking place in Dooney Rock, looking out onto Lough Gill, the unique performanc­e of the Yeat’s play will start at 6pm with entry free, and is a theatre event you won’t want to miss.

4 BLOGGERS BOOTCAMP Blogging is a great way to showcase your writing and interests, and if the idea of starting one has ever intrigued you, or you’re already writing a blog, then the Hawk’s Well Theatre is the place to be on Thursday August 4. Triona O’ Donnell, ( www. modafix. ie), will be giving imparting helpful tips to find your writing style. Admission to the workshop is € 15, suitable for ages 16+.

5 LOVELY LEITRIM Beezneez are reviving John McDwyer’s seminal first play to celebrate 20 years as a production company. The well- received and much requested revival comes to the Hawk’s Well Theatre for two nights, on Saturday 6th August and Sunday 7th August, with much of the original cast returning. The show kicks off at 8pm. Admission € 18.

6 THE STRYPES On the Friday the 5th of August, one of Ireland’s hottest up and coming artists The Strypes will be lighting up the stage at Stephen’s St. Car Park viciously hammering out a no- nonsense blues repertoire that has got them recognitio­n the world over. Show starts at 7pm.

7 CATHLEEN NÍ HOULIHAN One of William Butler Yeats’ most well- loved plays, Cathleen Ni Houlihan, is being performed in the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Friday 5th August. The play, which is being directed by Declan Drohan, will feature students from the Summer School Drama Workshop. The play begins at 8pm with admission € 10.

8 CUALA SONGBOOK AND DAUGHTERS OF EMER As part of the Tread Softly festival, the Hawk’s Well Theatre is hosting a delightful double bill of locally connected theatre on Wednesday the 3rd of August, based on the stories of Susan and Elizabeth Yeats, Lily and Lolly. The show starts at 8pm with tickets (€ 15) available from the Hawk’s Well Box Office.

9 SLIGO RACES The Sligo Races are returning to the Sligo Racecourse at the start of August for a bumper midweek of racing action. On Wednesday the 3rd of August it’s Sligo Rovers’ day at the races. The following day, feathers and finery will be making their way to the Sligo Racecourse as Ladies day arrives on 4th of August.

10 KIERAN QUINN Thursday the 4th of August, Kieran Quinn, will be bringing his “themed nights” show to the Stephen St. Car Park outdoor venue, where an array of Sligo’s finest talent will be performing your favourite sing- a- long anthems. The show kicks off at 7pm and will no doubt be great fun. Admission is free.
