AUGUST DRAW

The Community Park draw for August took place in Brennan’s on Saturday night, the numbers were pulled out by birthday girls Margaret Powell and Ger Conboy. Well done to Emma Gallagher who won € 200, Martin and Patricia Gavighan won € 100, and € 50 each went to Des and Edel Haran and Pat and Patricia Hayes. Consolatio­n prizes went to Elliot McVann, Kevin Brett, Patricia Keirans and Bridie Kilcoyne. Tickets for next year’s draw are now on sale, your continued support is much appreciate­d.

ROALD DAHL DAY

As part of the worldwide events marking the centenary of the birth of the worlds most loved children’s author Roald Dahl, St Brigid’s Hall are holding events on September 10 and 11 to mark the occasion. On Saturday, September 10, at 2.30 p. m. Wayne O’Connor will hold his storytelli­ng session ‘ Revolting Rhymes’, which brings alive the anarchic work of everyone’s favourite author. This event combines high energy storytelli­ng, live drawing and audience participat­ion. Watch as famous fairy tales are re imagined as Wayne whizzes through the audience. After that there will be a screening of Willy Wonka the Chocolate Factory. On Sunday, September 11, there will be a screening of The BFG, the 1989 animation film, at 3 p. m.

INTERNET SKILLS

Sligo Leader Partnershi­p is currently delivering a programme for people who would like to learn how to use the internet but have no previous skills or experience with computers. The course is being delivered in community centres in Dromore West, Gurteen, Tubbercurr­y, Collooney, Enniscrone, Easkey, Grange, Ballintril­lick and Sligo town. The course comprises of four two- hour classes at a total cost of € 20. Computers and training manuals will be provided. The aim of the programme is to increase people’s confidence in using the internet for a variety of everyday tasks, such as using Skype, sending emails, taxing your car, viewing missed TV programmes etc. Please ring David/ Paula at 071 9141138 for further details.
