Planning refused on road access for Strandhill house
PLANNING for a house at Larass, Strandhill has been refused by the County Council.
A report from an Area Engineer outlined how the proposed development was on a private road with no plans submitted on its upgrading while sightlines from an existing junction with the public road were described as particularly poor.
The application to demoliosh an existing derelict house with outhouse ruins and build a new house with septic tank and storage shed and a connection to a private bored well was submitted in the name of Thomas McVeigh of Annagh, Tourlestrane. In his report recommending refusal, Area Engineer, P. O’Rourke said no proposals had been detailed in relation to upgrading the private road to the development.
No proposals were submitted either in relation to connecting the private road to the existing public road. The junction was used for agricultural purposes and the sightlines were particularly poor with no proposals regarding upgrading. The development would also generate extra traffic at this location.
“Given the current sightlines and inadequate proposals to upgrade the existing private road to the development and its junction with the public road, refusal to grant permission is recommended,” said Mr O’Rourke in his report. The decision to refuse planning was made on September 8th last.
