Cups, chats and cream buns as Hospice Coffee Morning is held
KETTLES were in full flight throughout Sligo on Thursday morning as the major Coffee Morning for Northwest Hospice took place.
Shops, schools, businesses and even Sligo Courthouse got in on the act for the annual event which raises much needed funds for the vital services provided by Northwest Hospice.
Groups gathered in City Hall for a friendly chat over a cuppa, while workers in Tesco also proudly supported the fundraiser, with countless homemade buns and treats on display.
Local students were also involved in raising money through the event, with groups helping out collecting money.
The Coffee Morning is the biggest fundraiser on the calendar for the Northwest Hospice and all the money collected goes straight into the frontline services it pro- Pics: vides. Mary Forte is Communications Relations Manager with the Northwest Hospice centre in Wine Street. She said the morning was another brilliant success and there’s still more fundraising money coming in. Mary added: “Irelands Biggest Coffee Morning is our biggest fundraiser of the year providing about one tenth of our annual funds raised. We would like to say a big thank you to all our coffee morning hosts, all our volunteer bakers for the amazing cakes and buns, and to all the people of Sligo, Leitrim, North Donegal and West Cavan who went out and supported their local coffee mornings and to let everyone know that all monies raised goes directly into North West Hospice Patient care. Coffee morning is officially Thursday 15 September but just to say there will be coffee mornings held across our area for at least another week so please support.”
