The Sligo Champion

At the end of the day we have to play regardless

-

THE result in Bray wasn’t a good one and a repeat scoreline is hard to stomach but at the end of the day a loss is a loss. The disappointing aspect is the manor of the loss and not to perform and give away three goals from set pieces will be eating away at some but maybe not them all.

We had no Sadlier or Roddan but you would still expect us to put it up to them a bit more.

Bray have been on a terrific run and Harry Kenny has transformed them from a team flirting with relegation to a team with a genuine chance of a top five finish.

I hate the bogey term and we can never win up there because in reality it’s nonsense.

It is a horrible place to play footie but at the end of the day it’s your job to go and perform no matter where you are playing.

We have struggled against the so called weaker sides this season for whatever reason and it’s disappointing the points dropped to so called lesser sides.

Cork are the visitors Saturday and hopefully Finn Harps will have them rightly fed up by the time they come to play us Saturday night.

They have a massive two games this week and both in the north west and the pressure is all on them if they have any chance of winning the title.

We need to put in a performance after last week and try to restore some confidence in the players and fans.

Last week saw Dundalk brought their credi- bility to another level with a fan- tastic point away in Holland.

I prised I felt wasn’t that surby the result as they had every chance of causing upin this group. They played in the rect manner got the ball down and passed it. attacked Alkwith Darryl outstanding on night. his current form worthy of considerup to the national team. is a great keeper but I don’t has warranted a call up and he They maar Horgan the

I think makes him ation for a call

I think Rodgers think his form this season was at fault for the opening goal.

The team stuck at it and showed great courage and bravery and cemented themselves as one of the great league of Ireland teams.

The last few days unfortunately brought devastation on the Sligo/ Leitrim area with the death of the hugely popular Mark Rooney.

Mark was a gifted sportsman a natural at anything he took his hand too.

When I joined the Rovers Mark was a player on the verge of the first team and a player I was trying to emulate.

He could play anywhere on the football pitch and was the best and most natural guy to strike a ball with both feet I ever saw. Mark was super laid back and what was extremely difficult for most he could do it in his sleep.

I think the game was too easy for him at times and he could take it or leave it. He was a comedian in the changing room and everyone was at the end of his dry wit with at some stage. He was a gifted individual and will be sorely missed by everyone.
