Orchids join Sawdoctors at Sligo Live
EXCITING NEW BAND ARE THE PERFECT GUESTS FOR SAWDOCTORS
FOLLOWING their recent soldout show at Whelan’s and their amazing set at Castlepalooza, Sligo Live have announced Orchid Collective as Special Guests to The Saw Doctors on Sunday, 30th October 2016 at Knocknarea Arena. Together for just over a year Orchid Collective have been gigging relentlessly throughout Ireland and have worked tirelessly creating a fresh and exciting live show for their growing audience. The band’s skilled musicianship is transferred to their impressive live shows, with stand- out performances at festivals such as Electric Picnic, Castlepalooza and the Galway International Arts Festival. They supported Boston based Mutual Benefit on the Irish leg of their European tour and released their debut single ‘ Figure It Out’ last year along with starting 2016 as Whelan’s “Ones to Watch”. Their second single “Lay As Stone” released earlier this year received rave reviews and national radio exposure.
Consisting of David O Shea ( lead vocals, guitar), Shea Tohill ( lead guitar, vocals), Hugh O’Neill ( bass, vocals) and Brian Roony ( drums, vocals) the band have been gigging relentlessly across Ireland, developing their unique sound and quickly making a name for themselves as an unforgettable live act. Through their own distinct use of vocal harmonies and searing layers of reverbed guitars; Orchid Collective make themselves known as a band that set themselves apart from their contemporaries, offering a bold new imagining of the indie genre.
Meanwhile organisers are this year asking the people and businesses of Sligo to help promote the festival. “As the festival attracts a large number of visitors to Sligo, it is a great opportunity for Sligo to showcase not only its amazing live music scene, but also the fantastic array of tourist attractions. Whether it’s a bar, restaurant, hotel or one of the many indoor and outdoor activities in the region, we believe Sligo Live can continue to bring many new visitors to our town and help local business,” said a spokesperson for Sligo Live.
In the coming weeks, they will be posting on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and are asking people to like/ share as many of these as possible so they can bring as many people as possible to Sligo and the Sligo Live Festival.
So whether you tag a friend who might be interested in a certain gig or invite them to their Facebook events, it will be a “huge help” and it costs nothing to do. “We really want people outside of Sligo to see a real energy emitting from the Sligo community not only about the festival, but about our great town and county,” said organisers.
