What’s new in Sligo town?
WITH all recent news on the closure of businesses in Sligo, it’s nice to see new premises opening up around the town and thriving.
Una Donna: An Italian Style Shoe Shop located on Wine Street Sligo caters for women’s, men’s and children’s real Italian leather shoes at a reasonable price.
The shop is run by Sylvia and Martin and was opened on the 16th of Sept and business has been booming. Having run two previous shops in Castlebar and Carrick- on- shannon they decided to re- locate their Castlebar shop to Sligo.
Sylvia said: “We had regular loyal customers coming to our shop in Carrick- on- Shannon so it made sense to move one of the shops to Sligo. We always wanted to come here we were just waiting for the right location.”
Anna: is a fashion and lifestyle boutique located at number 6 Market Street Sligo and is run by Sligo native Anna Higgins.
The store has been opened since April of this year. While Anna admits at first it was hard to get people over to that side of town, the word of the shop has been spread by word of mouth and business has been doing very well.
Cait & I: located at 34 Market cross Sligo, it is a sister run shop which opened up in May of this year.
The sisters are originally from Mullaghmore and this shop is their first venture together. It stocks contemporary Irish craft and design pieces. They choose Sligo as their shop destination as it was the nearest retail area.
Owner Cait said: “We has a great reception and the summer was great. We’ve have great feedback from people.”
My Story Cafe, located on 23 Grattan Street has been open for business for the past ten months.
It is opened from ten in the morning and serves everything from tea & coffee to pies and pastries.
Business has been growing, and they are currently looking for full time staff to help run their busy cafe.
