Events to help your wellbeing

THE keys to wellbeing and happiness are central to a host of events are taking place around the county this week to mark Mental Health Week.

The series of talks, events, workshops and fun activities, outlined below, start this week and will continue throughout the autumn to promote positive mental health in Sligo.

Self Esteem and Young People is the subject of a free public talk this Thursday at 7pm in the Riverside Hotel, Sligo. Head of HSE Psychology for Sligo, Leitrim and West Cavan Mark O’Callaghan’s presentati­on will explore the factors which impact on a young person’s self- esteem and how we can foster self- esteem in teenagers.

A ‘ Taking Control’ Workshop’ about practical ways to face life challenges takes place in Sligo on Friday ( 14th of October) and in Enniscrone on Monday 17th of October. A six- week Active Citizenshi­p Course begins on Thursday ( 13th) in Sligo Family Resource Centre. Contact Cathy on sligofrc@ gmail. com

The centre also runs courses in knit- ting and Basic Health.

For men, Social Soccer is lunch time soccer match every Tuesday from 12pm – 2pm at the Knocknarea Arena at IT Sligo.

Teenagers from 14- 18yrs are invited to attend a Youth Music Event hosted by CRIB on Friday, 15th October. The ‘ My Mind, My Happy’ photograph­y competitio­n will also be launched at the event.

Cleveragh Sports Complex is hosting an Outdoor Gym Workshop today ( Tuesday) at 2pm.

Tubbercurr­y FRC Walk & Talk Groups are holding several walks this week, starting today ( Tues) from 12pm – 1pm followed by tea/ coffee. Tomorrow ( Wednesday) they’re

meeting at Howley’s Car Park, Curry for a walk at 10.20am and chat through the scenic areas in the locality.
