BRIDGE CLUB

Bridge Club has commenced again in Ballymote Community Library the club meets every Thursday at 2.30 p. m. New members always welcome.

SCHOOL MUSICAL

The students and staff of Coláiste Muire, Ballymote will host their production of ‘ Thank you for the Music’ in the Art Deco Theatre on Thursday, October 13, 8 p. m., Friday, October 14, 8 p. m. and Saturday, October 15, at 2.30 p. m. and 8 p. m.

This stage musical tells the story of bride to be Sofie on her quest to find her father before she marries her fiancé Sky. She invites all three possible fathers to her wedding without the knowledge of her mother Donna. The show includes some of the greatest hits of ABBA.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the Ballymote lotto jackpot on October 1. Numbers drawn 4/ 5/ 12/ 17. There were two match- three winners. The name of the winners are displayed locally. The jackpot now stands at € 3,000. The next draw will take place in Tighes Old Stand on Saturday, October 15. Thank you for your continued support.

HIP HOP CLASSES

Hip Hop has returned to St Michael’s Community Centre, Cloonacool since Thursday, September 22.

Classes run on Thursday from 6 p. m. to 7 p. m. for children up to fourth class and 7 p. m. to 8 p. m. for the older primary school children.

MUSIC CLUB

Cloonacool Music Club takes place on Thursday at Brennan’s Bar from 10 p. m. Come along for a great night of music and singing.

CARD GAME

The Cloonacool Card Game will continue throughout the summer at 9 p. m. each Monday in Cloonacool Community Centre.

WALKING GROUP

FITNESS CLASSES

Fitness classes have resumed on Mondays at 7 p. m. and Wednesdays at 8 p. m. in the Teeling Centre with Seán Flannery. The cost is € 7 per class and each class runs for about an 65- 70 mins. All fitness levels are catered for, whatever is required from a fitness class is provided.

SYMPATHY

Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Paul Corcoran, Camarillo, California and late of Kilnamonag­h, Collooney. Paul is survived by his wife, Mary, his daughter, Lisa, son- in- law, Eyal and grandsons, Eli and Liam. Paul is also survived by his sisters, Ailish, Ann, Claire and Kathy and his brothers, Martin, Pauric, Gerry, Tom and Joe. May he rest in peace.

MASS SCHEDULE CHANGE

Fr Laurence will be away from parish duties for the next couple of months and the following is the mass schedule for the immediate future. The will be no weekday masses in either church, weddings and funerals excepted. Fr Alan Conway will say the Saturday Vigil Mass in Geevagh at the usual time of 8 p. m.

On Sunday, Fr O’Shea will say Mass in Highwood at 10 a. m. There will be no Sunday morning Mass in Geevagh. Frs. Conway and O’Shea will take care of funerals, while Deacon Damien Kearns will deal with baptisms.

CHARITY CYCLE

The charity cycle held last Saturday week was a major success with 62 cyclists taking part. The weather was dry and sunny and there was a little bit of a breeze which made for excellent cycling conditions according to those taking part. The feedback regarding the route was very positive which figures well for the future of the event. There was lots of refreshmen­ts served up afterwards in Paddy’s. On the night there was music and fun with the one and only, DJ Gary. The organising committee wish to thank all who took part, sponsored prizes, provided food and to all those who marshalled along the route. The proceeds from this year go towards the Irish Kidney Associatio­n ( Sligo Branch). There is still some money to be collected and then the final amount will be presented. He was a nephew of the late An tAthair Tomas O’Ceallaigh. His remains reposed at Mahon’s Funeral Home Boyle on Tuesday evening and were removed to Cloonloo Church on Wednesday for Mass of the Resurrecti­on with burial afterwards in Templerona­n Cemetery. He is survived by his brother, Michael, sister, Ann, cousins, friends and neighbours to whom deepest sympathy is extended. May he rest in peace.

TIDY TOWNS

We are proud to announce that the community of Gurteen has won An Endeavour Award in the National Tidy Towns Competitio­n, and will receive € 500 for a 6.78% improvemen­t on last year’s marks- 236 this year – up from 220 last year. Well done to all the residents of the village and surroundin­g areas, local business owners, volunteers, supporters and to all who contribute­d to this success. Well done to all concerned.
