The Sligo Champion

Community cafe needs helpers

-

Café Fia, the first and only community café in Connacht, will open its doors once again in Coolaney Community Centre on weekends from 29th October to 18th December.

The door is open right now to anyone who would like to get involved as a food supplier or join the team of volunteers preparing to open the café.

Last spring’s pop- up opening was a phenomenal success.

Locals and visitors alike savoured delicious home baking, signature soups and freshly brewed tea and coffee.

Just as enjoyable was a unique community atmosphere making customers feel relaxed and especially welcome.

The busy weekends were testament to what can be achieved when people work together to combine their skills.

People in the mid- Sligo area will be delighted to hear that Café Fia will return for a winter opening on Saturdays and Sundays from 29th October until Christmas.

The volunteers have been busy with a research trip to “The Cottage” community café in Tipperary and winner of the Irish Times Café of the Year. This season promises new baked treats, warming soups and sumptuous coffees, perfect for those enjoying an autumnal walk around Sligo’s Tidiest Town or meeting up for a chat.

Café Fia welcomes new members of all ages and experiences wishing to get involved.

There’s a role for everyone and training will be provided. et in touch with Café Fia on 086 3220688.
