Frenzied stabbing attack in city pub

A man was left fighting for his life and his partner also received injuries in a frenzied knife attack in a Sligo pub late on Saturday night. The man received stab wounds to his chest and neck area in an incident at the Corozon Inn and was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of Sligo University Hospital but is said to be now out of danger. A 48 year old man was in court on Monday charged with assault arising from the incident.

A couple are recovering from stab wounds inflicted at a pub in the early hours of last Sunday.

The couple were stabbed during an incident at the Crozon Inn, Crozon Park.

Both are understood to have received stab wounds to the upper body and are being treated at Sligo University Hospital.

A- 48- year old man was arrested by Gardai soon afterwards and taken into custody.

He was held overnight at Ballymote Garda Station and was subsequent­ly charged.

He was brought before a sitting of Donegal District Court on Monday morning where evidence of arrest, charge and caution was given by Sergeant John Walsh.

The accused, Padraig McMorrow of Caltragh was remanded on his own bail of € 300 by Judge Kevin Kilrane ( pictured) to appear at Sligo District Court on Thursday.

He is charged with assault causing harm to Michael Harte and Patrice McMorrow at the Crozon Inn and with possession of a knife.

The defendant was represente­d by Mr Tom MacSharry, solicitor who made an applicatio­n for bail.

Legal Aid was also granted following an applicatio­n by Mr MacSharry.

McMorrow was ordered to sign on daily at Sligo Garda Station between the hours of 9am and 9pm; obey a curfew from 9pm to 7 am and have no contact with the alleged victims.

It was also a bail condition that he stay out of the Crozon Inn and other pubs.
