Stayed in hotels without paying

-

A 44- year- old woman stayed in two Sligo hotels, racking up a bill of over € 1,100 which she didn’t pay for before leaving. Denise O’Reilly, of Clearwater, Courtmacsherry, Cork, was charged with staying 13 nights B& B in the Southern Hotel, Knappagh Road, on dates between November 28th 2014 and December 10th of that year and not paying a bill of € 704.57 which included drink and food. She was further charged with not paying € 416.00 at the Sligo Park Hotel, Pearse Road, on October 28th 2014. Defending solicitor Ms Sinead Maguire said unfortunately her client was not in a position to pay the money back at the moment. She had been in hospital and was suffering from mental health issues. She was also having difficulty with social welfare benefits and was presently not in a position to pay the outstanding funds. Inspector Paul Kilcoyne said the defendant had 18 previous convictions. Judge Kevin Kilrane said: “I note the various difficulties you have but in November 2015 you said you had paid cash to the Sligo Park but you did not. The defendant said she couldn’t remember fully as her behaviour had been very erratic, she had a lot of family issues and she was running away from her problems. A sum of € 500 which had been the defendant’s bail bond, was used to pay the two hotels in question. The Southern Hotel received € 300 while the Sligo Park got € 200. Judge Kilrane also fined O’Reilly € 200.
