Tubber overcome strong Celtic side

-

BALLYMOTE CELTIC REAL TUBBER 0 3 WHAT a beautiful morning for the two groups of Under 12s from close quarters to tog out for this league fixture.

Ballymote Celtic have invested heavily in an underage structure – starting them off as young as four and five and the fruits of this are evident judging by what was on show on Saturday.

Equally the quality of what is consistently coming through in Real Tubber ranks is quite amazing – they appear to have an endless gene pool and produce some of the cream of talent in Sligo Leitrim.

Real Tubber started the stronger and had Ballymote Celtic keeper Ryan Duffy pressed hard from the off.

Liam Skeffingon and Tom Bailey linked up very well to really keep both Duffy and James Kilcoyne on their toes in the Ballymote defence.

Tubber had a very fixed and defined game plan – so did Ballymote but Real Tubber were sharper in the early exchanges.

They varied the attacks from the attacks from the wings with excellent crossing to the route one directly down the middle.

Ballymote were able in the early stages to thwart the attacks with some excellent defending from Senan Fallon and Tommie Keenan but the patience of Real Tubber finally paid off through Keelan Moylan followed quickly by a second from Callum Neary.

Celtic regrouped in the second half and tried hard to strengthen the defence with Tomas Sweeney and Cian Cantwell falling back to act as a double sweep up. Tubber seem to have radars for goal and consistently found the target with Michael Clifford Aaron O Hara and Tadgh Henry all showing the coaching staff that they merit a starting place.

Gareth Rogers and Dara Brehony posed the biggest threat for Ballymote and both teams played heart and soul to the final whistle – unfortunately for the home side it was a defeat but one they can take a lot of positives out of moving forward.
