A most successful Pink ball tournament was held on the7th October in Bomore. Over 100 ladies took part and had a very enjoyable meal afterwards in the club house. A total of € 2227 was donated to the Sligo Cancer Support Centre centre and well done to the organisers Penny Neiland and Aideen Sweeney and their heplers. CONGRATULA­TIONS to Michelle McGarraghy the incoming vice- captain. Michelle is the current Competitio­ns’ secretary and we are delighted with her appointmen­t. OVER forty ladies played golf in beautiful weather in the first outing of the member’s Junior Alliance on Thursday 20th October organised by Brid Armstrong. Results: Kate Hegarty ( 33) 22pts. Josephine Scanlon( 32) 19pts, Jean Barr ( 27) 17 pts back 5 and Hazel Gillen ( 34) 17 pts. THE Ladies Western Senior Alliance took place on Friday 21st October organised by Vivienne Foley: RESULTS: Cat 1: 1st Deirdre Connolly ( 12) 36 pts, 2nd Claudette Murphy ( 13) 32 pts, Gross Marie Rooney ( 11( 20 Cat 2: 1st Marie McTiernan ( 22) 34 pts, 2nd Una Gleeson ( 22) 33 pts. ON Sunday 23rd afternoon about 15 of the Get into Golf Ladies played a 4 ball Rumble on Bomore. 4 teams played on a lovely afternoon. The winning team led by Lady Captain Carmel with Lily Murphy, Margaret Hession and Gemma Healy had 35 pts. Prizes were also awarded to Lily Murphy, for the best individual score and to Deirdre Scott, Martina Cosgrove and Margaret Hession for pars. We hope to have one more completion before the end of the year. Well done to Valerie Booker who organised the competitio­n.

FRIDAY Open Stableford THIS week’s Friday Open Stableford competitio­n was played in beautiful clear conditions for this time of year and this was reflected in the scores returned. First place was taken by James Kearins with an excellent score of 43 points. James scored a total of nine pars over the course of his round with four on the front nine and the remaining five on the back nine as well as adding a birdie on the par three second hole to ensure the signed for his score of 43 points. SECOND place was taken by Pat Lee, one point back with a score of 42 points. Pat scored a total of eleven pars over the course of his eighteen holes with four on the front nine and the remaining seven on the back nine as well as adding an impressive four birdies on the way to signing for his score of 42 points. THIRD place was taken by Clive Boyle with a score of 38 points. Clive scored a total of seven pars over his eighteen holes with five on the front nine and the remaining two on the back nine as well as adding a birdie on the par four eleventh hole to ensure he signed for his score of 38 points. 1ST James Kearins ( 17) 43pts 2nd Pat Lee ( 05) 42pts 3rd Clive Boyle ( 11) 38pts SLIGO Golf Academy Stableford SATURDAY’S Sligo Golf Academy sponsored 18 hole stableford competitio­n saw the close scoring at the top continue as the top seven places were only covered by four points. Niall Kearns took first place with a score of 42 points. Niall scored a total of eight pars over the course of his round with five on the front nine and the remaining three on the back nine as well as adding a birdie on the par four twelfth hole on the way to victory with 42 points. SECOND place was taken by Mark Wehrly with a score of forty points. Mark scored a total twelve pars during his round, split equally between the front and back nines with six on each nine as well as adding birdies on the fifth, seventh, tenth and fifteenth holes on his way to securing second place with forty points. THIRD place was taken by Noel Dykes, also with a score of forty points. Michael Cox took first place with a score of 70 nett. Michael scored a total of six pars over the course of his round with three on the front nine and the remaining three on the back nine on the way to signing for his score of 70 nett and first place. SECOND place was taken by Bernard Mahoney with a score of 71 nett. Bernard scored a total of three pars over the course of his eighteen holes with two on the front nine and the remaining one on the back nine on the way to signing for his score of 71 nett for second place. THIRD place was taken by Robert Kelly, also with a score of 71 nett. The Strandhill Lodge & Suites sponsored Winter League will commence on Sunday November 6th 2016 and continue on the dates outlined below. This year’s competitio­n will be run over a shorter period with an 18 hole final instead of the previous 36 hole final format THE competitio­n format is a V Par competitio­n which will be played over alternatin­g 9’ s. Entry is open to teams of 2 at a cost of € 50 for members and € 80 for non members and includes a contributi­on of € 10 from every entry fee to go to the Course Developmen­t Fund. ALL entrants MUST hold a current GUI handicap. Players will play of 3/ 4 of their lowest handicap from 2016. All fixtures will be played on Sunday’s including the final. WINTER League Dates NOV 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th Dec 4th, 18th Jan 8th THIS year’s final will be played over 18 holes on January 15th 2017 ALL dates are of course subject to change and are weather dependent. Should we lose a Sunday in November or on December 4th then December 11th will be used. THERE is a sheet posted on the notice board in the mens locker room. Please enter your names and phone numbers on the sheet before the closing date for entries, which is next Sunday, October 30th 2016. IF you require a partner, please enter your name on the sheet and the committee will endeavor to organize one for you.
