Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Mary Harte, The Square, Collooney who died during the week and who was buried in St Nathy’s Cemetery following her funeral Mass on Thursday, October 20. May she rest in peace.

BELTRA COUNTRY MARKET

It’s Hallowe’en time again and there will be lots going on Saturday, October 29, at Beltra Market. Noeleen will be making Hallowe’en treats with the children and there will be a Fancy Dress competitio­n for all ages plus a prize for the best carved pumpkin. Something for everyone. Market open from 10 a. m. to midday.

OWENMORE GAELS

The club is looking to build a stand at the pitch as the developmen­t of Connolly park continues. This will be a stand for the people built by the people. We are looking for people to volunteer to give € 5 per week for one- year towards the fund. There will be two options to pay, € 240 up front or 12 € 20 direct debit payments. Anybody who contribute­s to the fund will have their name permanentl­y adorned on the wall of the stand. This is completely optional and open to anybody. WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions to Richard Cole, Cloonamaho­n and Lynn Moore and who were married on October 1 in Lynn’s home county of Cork. The happy couple celebrated with family and friends in Sligo on Saturday, October 15, last in the Coach House Hotel, Ballymote with a lovely reception. Congratula­tions to both Richard and Lynn and every good wish for health and happiness to them both in the future.

25 GAME IN BALLINAGAR

TRAD MUSIC CLASS

The Teeling Centre Traditiona­l Music Class has resumed and continues every Tuesday at 6 p. m. for beginners, 6.40 p. m. fiddles and 7.20 p. m. for advanced. Classes in tin whistle, flute, fiddle etc. More details from Michael Hurley at 086 6036243.

FITNESS CLASSES

Fitness classes have resumed on Mondays at 7 p. m. and Wednesdays at 8 p. m. in the Teeling Centre with Seán Flannery. The cost is € 7 per class and each class runs for about an 65- 70 mins. All fitness levels are catered for, whatever is required from a fitness class is provided.

The long- awaited first phase of the Dromahair Greenway is to be opened to the public. At 11 a. m. we have the 5km Fun Run. Be the first to run/ jog/ walk/ cycle the line/ loop. MOCK WEDDING

The ‘ Mock Wedding of Vinny and Breege’ to be held in the Clarion Hotel on October 30 at 7.30 p. m. Our very well- known Tommy Marren scripted the play and he will act as the priest in the mock wedding. Well known groups, The Busy Fingers and Emerald Storm will perform at the function, along with the Straw Boys and much more. VALLEY ROVERS

The under- 11 Valley Rovers team had a very successful tournament recently in the Showground­s when they won the Paul Moyland Sheild. It was a long and tough day for the lads as they had to play eight games in a mixed weather situation of heavy rain and sunshine throughout the day. Into the final and they were two goals down but a great spirit and determinat­ion saw them get back to 2- 2 and then in the last minute of the game they got through to score the winning goal. Well to the lads and to their parents who supported them along the way.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Tirerrill Historical Society start their winter series of talks in Highwood Community Centre on Monday, November 7, at 8 p. m. Sam Moore will tell the story of ‘ The German Spy who landed on Streedagh Strand’. Admission is € 5 and includes tea and scones afterwards. Everyone is welcome.

ENTERPRISE TOWN EXPO

Tubbercurr­y and South Sligo Enterprise Town is coming to St Attracta’s Community School Tubbercurr­y on November 4 and 5. This is a free event sponsored by Bank of Ireland. There is a fantastic line up of events including a business expo, panel discussion­s, fashion show, sports activities, coder dojo, children’s activities, health and safety demonstrat­ions and entertainm­ent for all the family.

Special guest is Gavin Duffy of RTÉ Dragon’s Den. All are welcome to come along and experience the very best that Tubbercurr­y and South Sligo has to offer. We would like our locality to be well represente­d. Also at 11 a. m. – for those not in such a hurry – there will be an ecological walk along the former SL and NCR railway line led by ecologist Julien Carlier. At 2.30 p. m. the community is invited to meet at the start of the line – opposite the clubhouse – to walk or cycle the line together.

This is a family – friendly event with a Children’s fun trail and pop- up dramatic moments along the way. There will be light refreshmen­ts served at the end of the line at the Edergole crossing house from about 3 p. m., with an opportunit­y to recall the days of the railway while enjoying some ceol and craic, as well as dancing.

HALLOWEEN IN THE GLENS

Everyone is invited to celebrate Halloween at the Glens Centre during a spectacula­r two- day event at the end of this month.

On Sunday afternoon, October 30, the Glens Centre will be hosting a series of scary workshops from 2 p. m. to 5 p. m. There will be spooky arts and crafts for children. You can create soundtrack to Halloween with sound artist John Daly and there is even ( supervised) pumpkin carving for the adults.

On Monday afternoon and evening, October 31 from 4 p. m. to 7 p. m., come trick or treating and the Glens centre will provide you with entertainm­ent. The Glens Centre is proud to announce that its First annual Children’s Scary Film Festival will take place on this special occasion with short films made by children in the Brouhaha Drama Club and St Clare’s Primary School.

The Monday Halloween show in the Glens will also have performanc­es and readings by the Manorhamil­ton Youth Theatre, Brouhaha Drama Club and others. Come in fancy dress and you might even get a terrifying prize.

BOEING 767 TOUR

The locally based North West Vintage and Heritage Club recently promoted a very successful closing run of the year to the popular West Sligo resort of Enniscrone.

Prior to the run a total of 30 cars assembled in Ballisodar­e and then travelled to the Quirky Glamping Village in Enniscrone, where its owner the enterprisi­ng and visionary, David McGowan gave the party a guided tour of the Russian Boeing 767 aircraft there.

Mr McGowan also gave an enjoyable and interestin­g talk on his future plans for the Quirky Glamping Village.

PRAISE EVENING

Everyone is invited to come to the Manorhamil­ton Gospel Praise Evening on this Saturday night, October 29, in the Bee Park Community Centre at 8 p. m.

There will be Gospel Singing and a Life- story while the Speaker will be John Johnston. Admission is free and refreshmen­t will be served afterwards.
