Sympathy to the McCarrick family, Pelletstow­n, Meath on the recent death of Roger, formerly of Treentha, Coolaney.

Roger was a member of the famous Mullinabre­ena GAA Senior Sligo championsh­ip winning team of 1958. He was also very well know in agricultur­al circles nationally and especially through his associatio­n with the Limousin breeders in Ireland. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.

SET DANCING

Set dancing classes have resumed in St Nathy’s hall, Mullinabre­ena every Thursday night at 8.30 p. m. Beginners welcome.

25 CARD GAME

Coolaney- Mullinabre­ena GAA are hosting their annual 25 card game drive in St Nathy’s hall on Friday, October 28, at 9 p. m. Great cash prizes, spot prizes and a raffle on the night. Your support is appreciate­d.

COURT ABBEY CEMETERY

The cemetery at Court Abbey, Lavagh is almost full, with only two single plots available. After a recent enquiry from councillor Dara Mulvey, Sligo County Council responded and asked the community to identify possible available sites which the council will then assess for suitabilit­y as a Cemetery. A meeting was held recently to discuss the issue and investigat­ion of possible sites is ongoing. All enquiries to Fr Peter Gallagher, Gerry Mullen or Johnny Ruttledge.

FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE

A five- week course on flower- arranging will commence at Ballymote Family Resource Centre on Tuesday, November 8, from 1.30 p. m. to 3.30 p. m. and will continue till Tuesday, December 6, at the same time each week. The course will be tutored by Angela East and the total cost will be € 20 per head. Youth Speech and Drama classes continue on Thursday afternoons at Ballymote Family Resource Centre; from 3.15 p. m. to 4 p. m. for ages four to eight and from 4 p. m. to 5 p. m. for ages nine to 13. Crochet classes continue on Tuesdays at Ballymote Family Resource Centre from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. The Walking Group meets at Ballymote Family Resource Centre each Wednesday morning at 10 p. m. The group members undertake a local walk at each individual’s own pace for up to 90 minutes and then return to the centre for a welcome cup of tea. The text alert system has proved very successful for the Ballymote community in its first year. Mindfulnes­s meditation ses- sions take place for an hour on the last Wednesday evening of each month at Ballymote Family Resource Centre at 8 p. m.
