Lego fanatic PJ builds a toy show set for RTE host Ryan

A young boy from Ballintogher has caught the attention of Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy after he built a Lego replica of the Toy Show set.

Eleven- year- old Lego fanatic PJ Keegan decided to build the set after last year’s Toy Show, as he was annoyed no Lego was featured.

He wrote a letter to Tubridy explaining the reasons behind his anger, and was invited to Dublin last Wednesday to be interviewed by the RTE star.

PJ’s father, Gary, said: “He just loves Lego. He was so annoyed last year and he couldn’t understand how you could have a Toy Show without Lego!

“He has a real head on him and he decided by himself what was best to do to make a difference.”

PJ, who is in 5th class at St. Teresa’s NS in Ballintogher, went online and uploaded his ideas to an app called ‘ Lego Digital Designer’ which gave him instructions on how to build the set.

It took him three days and he used more than 1500 pieces, all second hand and bought from people across Europe. Gary said: “PJ is very determined, so I was delighted for him to get the interview.

“If he hadn’t, we would probably be up at the RTE studios right now looking for any way to show Tubridy the set.”

In preparation for the big interview, PJ, his big brother James and family travelled to the UK’s largest Lego convention in Birmingham.

PJ is currently waiting to see if he and his Toy Show set will be invited to the real deal on December 2.
