Credit Union asks members to donate to local charities

-

THE Board of Directors of Sligo Credit Union has been looking at ways to support community groups that make a significant difference to the lives of its’ members and the community in general.

This year the total Credit Union Dividend on members savings will amount to just under € 150,000 which will be represented to members as a 0.25% dividend on their shares. With interest rates being as low as they are, the actual value to each member of the Dividend after Government DIRT Tax of 41% is deducted is quite small and over 80% of members will receive a net dividend of less that € 4.50. Chairman of Sligo Credit Union, Fergus MacNabb, outlined that they have decided to give members the option of donating their dividend to either the North West Hospice or the Cancer Support Centre in Sligo.

He said:“As both these organisations have given so much help, support and comfort to countless families in Sligo, we are confident that most members, given the option, would look favourably at donating their dividend this year to two very worthwhile groups. We encourage our members to participate by completing the Dividend Donation form which will be on the back page of our AGM booklet. We ask members to complete the form and return it to our office before the 31st December.”

Sligo CU AGM will be held in the Glasshouse Hotel on Wednesday 7th December 2016 at 8pm.
