The three tenors sing for Strandhill school

- BY EMMA GALLAGHER

THE Three Tenors are going back to school... sort of. The trio are performing a special concert in St Patrick’s Church, Strandhill, where they will be accompanied by the local school choir.

The group has been busy of late, with sell out shows in the National Concert Hall, Belfast’s Waterfront, Cork Opera House and many more venues.

On the night, they will be joined by pupils from the Scoil Asicus school choir, and the young students are busy preparing the finishing touches to their big stage debut.

The Three Tenors, Derek, Dominic and Shane, are regular performers in top venues around Ireland and the UK and this winter concert has something for everyone.

Audiences can enjoy popular classic hits along with magical Christmas favourites.

They will be performing beautiful spiritual favourites such as Panis Angelicus, Ave Maria, The Prayer, I Believe and I’ll Walk with God.

Their versions of Sinatra’s My Way and Pavarotti’s Nessun Dorma will also blow you away.

The Three Tenors were the only group selected to perform a unique part for the opening of the 50th International Eucharistic Congress in the RDS and Croke Park back in June 2012 before an audience of 100,000 people. The trio are also regular voices on both the BBC and RTÉ Radio.

They were also the headline act to perform for the sell- out European Premiere for the film Lincoln in 2013 sharing the stage with the likes of Sinead O’Connor, Shane McGowan and Chris De Burgh.

This year the group was selected by the government to headline Ireland’s 1916 Centenary State Reception in Dublin Castle on Easter Sunday for 3000 invited guests from around the world.

There may not be as many at their upcoming gig in Strandhill, yet the singers say they are really looking forward to sharing the stage with the young students from the local primary school.

The concert is taking place on Saturday. November 19th, from 8.30pm.

Book early to avoid disappointment.

Tickets are € 25 and are available from Liber Bookshop O’Connell St and also from Strandhill Primary School and the primary school itself.
