SLIGO Rovers Football Club has announced that it has signed a new three- year sponsorship deal with Connollys Volkswagen.

The car dealership, which is based in Carraroe, has been main sponsors of the club since 2012 — when Sligo Rovers went on to win the Airtricity League.

The new deal, announced officially today, will see that relationship continue until 2019.

The deal was revealed to club members at last Saturday night’s end- of- season Gala Awards Ceremony at the Clarion Hotel in Sligo.

Awards were presented to a number of players, including a Hall of Fame award to former star player, Tony Fagan. Senior Player of the Year went to Raffaele Cretaro from Tubbercurry.

Sligo Rovers Chairman Martin Heraghty said: “We are delighted that Connollys Volkswagen has agreed to be main sponsors of Sligo Rovers F. C. for another three years.

“We would like to thank them for the support they have shown us over the past three years and look forward to working with them into the future.

“We value their sponsorship greatly and are delighted that a local business is supporting a local club.”

Connollys Volkswagen is part of the Connolly Motor Group and has Volkswagen dealerships in both Sligo and Ballina.

The group, which is owned and run by brothers Kevin and Neil Connolly, is one of the biggest motor groups in the country.

It also has Audi dealerships in Sligo, Ballina and Galway. Two weeks ago, it opened a brand new Mercedes- Benz dealership in Sligo, which will service the entire North West region.

Connolly Motor Group owner Neil Connolly said: “Connollys Volkswagen is extremely proud of our association with Sligo Rovers Football Club.

! We love working with such a great team and club, which has done Sligo proud over the years.

“We are delighted to come on board again as main sponsors for another three years and look forward to great success — on and off the pitch.”
