HOTEL ROOM IS LEFT THRASHED AFTER WEEKEND INCIDENT
CURTAIN POLE ALLEGEDLY PUT THROUGH LED TELEVISION IN ROOM
ALMOST € 2,000 worth of damage was allegedly caused at a city centre hotel at the week- end.
Two brothers were arrested by Gardaí following incidents at the Sligo City Hotel on Quay Street on Saturday night.
It has been claimed that pictures in a lift were damaged along with an LED television, curtain pole and toilet in one of the rooms.
Gardaí were called to the hotel and two brothers were subsequently brought before a special sitting of Sligo District Court on Sunday morning.
One of the brothers was charged with offences under the Public Order Act while the other is charged with causing damage amounting to € 1,910 at the hotel.
The men, with addresses in Northern Ireland were remanded in custody to Ballymote Garda station overnight and appeared again at a special sitting of Sligo District Court on Monday morning.
The men were represented by Mr Gerard McGovern, solicitor and applications for bail were made in respect of both accused.
The brother charged with causing criminal damage was released on cash bail of € 1,000 with Judge Kevin Kilrane being told the hotel had already stopped a further € 800 on the defendant through his bank card.
Mr McGovern indicated that the man would be pleading not guilty.
The other man was released on his own bail of € 300.
Both men were remanded to appear at Sligo District Court on Thursday, December 15th next.
