Hawk’s Well’s ‘ Book & Wine’ nights to return
THE third installment of the Hawk’s Well’s Three Thursdays: Books and Wine for 2016 featured special guest Elaine Coghill who discussed the book The Light Between Oceans by M. L. Stedman.
Benny Daly, wine expert from Hargadons served up a very special wine for the evening - Beaujolais Nouveau, which can only be opened on the third Thursday of November so this was perfect wine to complement the conversation.
Elaine discussed the beautiful descriptive style of the book and got the discussion going.
Benny Daly brought an element of fun to the evening by presenting straws with which to drink the Beaujolais Nouveau as he explained that in France this wine is drunk to celebrate the harvest and the book club were celebrating the end of the ‘ Three Thursdays’.
The theatre has hosted three book and wine events which have all sold out so the theatre is planning to continue with more in 2017.
The events are designed to whet the appetite and deepen our enjoy- ment of reading.
In an informal, friendly and open atmosphere, the monthly guest shares their passion for a favourite book and wine expert Benny Daly presents a wine that complements the reading.
The host for the evening is ardent book reader Vanessa Job.
The next ‘ Book & Wine’ event is planned for Thursday 19th of January when the guest for the evening will be John Ryan who will discuss the book ‘ The House of the Spirits’ by Isabel Allende.
