Calry’s Declan award win

-

CALRY native Declan Lee, who works for Dublin PR consultancy Insight Consultants, has won the Irish Sponsorship Award for his work with AVIVA on their FAI Junior Cup Sponsorship.

Declan won the award for the third time in four years at the Irish Sponsorship Awards.

The Sligo man joined Insight Consultants from O’Herlihy Communications as part of their merger in 2015.

This is the fourth national award that he has won for his work with AVIVA in the past three years.

The campaign included former Irish International Kevin Kilbane as Aviva’s FAI Junior Cup Ambassador.

It has helped to revive the fortunes of Europe’s largest amateur cup competition in recent years.

The profile of the competition is continually rising nationally with extensive exposure, creating regular TV match coverage on Eir Sport and the final sees teams battle it out in the Aviva.

Most recently it was local outfit City United who had hopes of reaching the final, they did extremely well to reach the quarter finals of the competition back in March of 2015 but they bowed out at the hands of Tipperary giants Clonmel Celtic.

The recent draw was made for the Fifth Round of the FAI Junior Cup 2016- 17.

These games will be played on the weekend of December 2nd, 3rd and 4th next as teams battle it out on the Road to the Aviva.

Boyle Celtic will be travelling to Iorras Aonthaithe FC, while the other fixtures will also be taking place that weekend.

Hailing from Calry, Declan has handled sponsorship campaigns for some of the biggest international brands.

These include Three Ireland, Powerade, Vodafone and William Hill.

He was also the Press Officer for Rally Ireland, when the first round of the World Rally Championship came to Sligo and across the North West in 2009 with thousands of rally enthusiasts visiting to see top- class racing.

Declan, who is a big Sligo Rovers fan, said he was honoured to receive the Irish Sponsorship Award for his work with AVIVA on the FAI Junior Cup Sponsorship.
