Fairyhouse on the cards

RACING fans from Sligo who want to savour the atmosphere at Fairyhouse’s Winter Festival can do so thanks to Sligo Races.

The committee at the Cleveragh- based racecourse are planning a trip to the popular two- day meeting in December.

Kathryn Foley, manager of Sligo Races, is organising the event for members on Sunday, December 4th.

She said: “We are taking a trip to Fairyhouse Racecourse on Sunday, December 4th for the second day of their brilliant Winter Festival.

“The bus will be departing from the racecouse enclosure here at 8am sharp and will be returning at 9pm that same night.

“The cost per person is € 50 and this will include the coach, tea/ coffee, scones on route, admission to Fairyhouse, and also dinner in Dunboyne Castle Hotel.

“This will be a great day out for racing fans and all are welcome,” Kathryn added.

The famous Fairyhouse Winter Festival includes top class racing with Grade One Races.

People can see some of the best National Hunt horses in training first hand and be a part of the electrifyi­ng atmosphere at one of Ireland’s most popular racing festivals.

Every year, there is fantastic racing from the venue during the Winter Festival.

Racing fans will see some of the top horses in training do battle.

The highlight of the pre- Christmas racing calendar in Ireland is undoubtedl­y Day 2 of the Fairyhouse Winter Festival.

With three Grade 1 races and the addition of a new € 100,000 Handicap Hurdle, this is a day you will not want to miss!

The first race gets underway on December 4th at 1.30pm. Horses from top trainers including Willie Mullins, Noel Meade, Gordon Elliot and Mrs John Harrington will be battling it out.
