OXFIELD RAFFLE

Exciting times at Oxfield. As works get under way on the constructi­on of the first phase of a new dressing rooms and toilets, Oxfield has just launched its 2016 Christmas Raffle in order to help raise funds for the second phase of the project and to ensure matching funding is available to facilitate imminent grant applicatio­ns for other planned improvemen­ts at the Oxfield Community Centre. This is your chance to win while at the same time helping to develop your local community facilities.

Raffle entry costs € 50 and gives you a chance to win some great prizes including € 2,500 cash ( kindly sponsored by Davis’s Restaurant at Yeats Tavern), a 32’ LED TV, fuel, electrical, grocery and sports vouchers, garden furniture, weekend hotel stay, a Samsung tablet, and so much more.

Entry will also entitle you to a full year’s use of the Oxfield walking track ( including Oxfield Walk/ Run/ Jog keyring). Tickets available from any Oxfield Committee member.

BENBULBEN 5K

The annual Benbulben 5K Road Race takes place this Sunday, December 4. Registrati­on takes place at the Oxfield Community Centre from 10 a. m. The 5K walk starts at 11.40 a. m. while the runners are off at midday. The accurately measured course is very attractive to seasoned runners and suits beginners too. Entry costs € 12 on the day. There will be a perpetual cup up for grabs on the day as well as the usual category prizes.

25 CARD DRIVE

The Cos Cos 25 Card Drive takes place this Sunday, December 4, in Collins Lounge, Rathcormac. All very welcome.

TURBO TRAINING

Cycle turbo training continues every Thursday evening at Oxfield between 7.30 and 9.30 p. m. This is a great way to keep your cycling going without having to worry about the weather. For more informatio­n contact Aidan at 087 2921178 or Shane at 087 7787230. All very welcome.

WILLOUGHBY BROTHERS

Lissadell Church is hosting internatio­nal singing sensations the Willoughby Brothers in a Christmas Concert on Friday, December 16. Tickets are now available from Drumcliffe Tea House, Grange Pharmacy, Veritas Sligo or by calling 087 1655880.

CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL

A Christmas Tree and Craft Festival will be taking place in Drumcliffe Church and grounds between December 8 to December 11. Opening hours are: Thursday 8th from three to 9 p. m.; Friday 9th and Saturday 10th from 11 a. m. to 9 p. m.; and Sunday 11th from 11 a. m. to 7 p. m. The event will close with a community carol service on the Sunday at 7 p. m. All proceeds will be shared between the Samaritans and Drumcliffe Parish Church. All very welcome.

Tickets have gone on sale for Anúna who will headline the 2017 Cos Cos sean nós Festival in what is likely to be a once in a lifetime concert at Drumcliffe Church on Friday, May 5.
