The Sligo Champion

‘ Flights of Fancy’ workshop for all aspiring illustrators

-

FANTASY illustrator Wayne O’Connor will host a two- day workshop at the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Monday, February 20th and Tuesday February 21st.

This jam- packed event will focus on creating exciting characters, settings and creatures for comics and games.

According to Wayne: “The workshop will provide a fun and engaging course in drawing and designing characters and worlds from the imagination, looking at a variety of ways to trigger ideas.

“Also there will be tips on techniques in both traditional pen and paper art as well as the growing digital art realms. I’m looking forward to shining a light on the power of the imagination but also pointing out how it’s grounded in the world around us.”

The workshop will run from 10am - 1pm each day and is suitable for 12- 14 year olds.

Hailing originally from Wexford, Wayne came to Sligo to study art in 1993. He has since made Sligo his home and taken part in a variety of exhibitions. Working predominantly in pen and ink but branching out towards digital art platforms in recent years, Wayne’s work is inspired by his interests in sci- fi, fantasy and myth and conjures up worlds of magic, monsters and faeries!

This interest is further fueled by his storytelling workshops which he has hosted around the country for several years.

There is limited capacity so early booking is advised. Contact the theatre on 071/ 9161518 or at www. hawkswell. com.
