Helping Tubber to become more active

-

New fitness classes in Tubbercurry aimed at those looking for a low intensity workout are currently underway thanks to Trish Walsh.

Tubbercurry already boasts a large variety of fitness classes and activities, but Trish felt that there was a lack of choice for those looking for the low- intensity variety. “I teach HIIT anyway and I felt that while there is such a huge variety of activities and fitness classes for people to get involved in, I just thought that there wasn’t enough out there for people who are looking to start out,” she told The Sligo Champion.

She explained that it will be suitable for everyone, specifically those looking to get into exercise: “So this is a low intensity work out. I’m looking at starting a class that will be low impact and low intensity. It’s suitable for everyone really but particularly anyone with cardiovascular problems, people with pre- existing injuries and those who want to start out exercise from the very start but have felt maybe too intimidated to do it.

“I just want to give people the confidence to get involved in fitness and to maybe move on to something more after this.”

Currently, Trish is running two classes a week. They take place on a Wednesday from 7- 8 and a Saturday morning from 9- 10 at the Fab- u- less Weight loss and Wellness building, across from Coen’s. “Classes will be modified to suit the person as much as possible within a group,” she said.

Trish has also been running fitness classes with pre- school children at the Lollipop Lane creche, which she says is great fun.

“It’s something I’ve been passionate about for a long time and luckily I was presented with this opportunity.

“I just think there is not enough kids or adults doing physical fitness so whilst we have a fantastic athletic club here in Tubbercurry, the pre- schoolers are too young.

So I look at getting them active before they get into school and it’s a lot of fun.”
