LOCAL LOTTO

Coolaney- Mullinabre­ena GAA lotto tickets are available for the New Year from any committee member. This is the club’s main annual fundraiser and the proceeds go toward the day to day running of the club. Thanks to all who have returned their tickets to date. Your continued support is greatly appreciate­d.

25 CARD GAME

The local 25 card game continues every Friday in St Nathy’s hall at 9 p. m.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Boyle Community Games Quiz will be held Friday, February 24, 6 p. m. in the Resource Centre, Boyle. The quiz is open to children aged over 10 and under 14 years at July 31. It is an individual event and the top four will form a team to represent Boyle parish. Entry fee € 2. Please bring pen paper will be provided. The county final will take place in Elphin Hall on Friday, March 3.

NEVEN MAGUIRE

A cookery demonstrat­ion with the renowned chef Neven Maguire will take place on Wednesday, March 1, in Kilronan Castle. Wine and Canapé Reception from 7 p. m. with an opportunit­y to browse the local produce and craft stands. Demo starts at 8 p. m. with a raffle for great prizes. Tickets € 20 and are on sale at Kilronan Castle, Surprises and Boyle Motor Works.

Proceeds in aid of Ardcarne Community Childcare Services and a contributi­on will be given to St Michael’s and St Patrick’s NS Cootehall.

ST PATRICKS DAY PARADE

This year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade promises to be the best ever with a special Internatio­nal flavour including traditiona­l Samba Dancers. Our Parade will commence at 3.30 p. m. on Friday, March 17. We encourage as many businesses, clubs and associatio­ns in Boyle to prepare over the coming weeks to partake in the parade and enter a float.

Entering a float is free so do avail of the opportunit­y. first prize for Overall Winner is € 500 with a runner- up of € 200; There is also a Junior Section ( under- 16) first prize is € 200 and runner- up € 100 and of course the Perpetual Cup for the best dressed Window display in town.

The success of the parade depends on the community and Businesses to get involved and showcase Boyle at its best. Taking part with a float in the parade offers a great opportunit­y to promote your club, school or business which we’re all very proud of.

Over the coming weeks letters will be dropped into businesses seeking contributi­ons towards the parade and the organising committee thank the community always for the warm welcome they receive and their financial support.

GOLF CLASSIC

A golf classic will be held in Boyle Golf Club for Boyle Courthouse and Model Railway on Saturday and Sunday, March 25 and 26. Teams of four – price € 100 per team/ Lunch is included in entrance fee – your support is most welcome – confirmati­on is needed by Tuesday, February 21. Call Frank at 087 2234477

ANGLING CLUB

Boyle annual Pike Angling Festival will be taking place on the Easter weekend, Saturday and Sunday, April 15 and 16, on Lough Key, Boyle. € 5,000 guaranteed prize fund first Prize € 2,500 plus the Moonstone Jewellers Perpetual Cup. In addition, Saturday and Sundays winners will each receive € 1,175 in prize money. Entry Fee per person – Adults € 60/ Juniors € 20 ( Junior’s must fish for junior prize and be accompanie­d by a fee paying adult).
