The Sligo Rovers Easter camps began last week in the Showgrounds with hundreds of kids participating. The Easter camp, sponsored by the Sligo Champion, runs for two weeks, has proven very popular among young footballers in counties Sligo and Leitrim with record numbers attending. Members of the Sligo Rovers team visited the kids on the camp to offer some advice and to have a Q& A with the young up and coming stars of the future.

The success of the camp has consistently grown over the years and camp co- ordinator, Shane Crossan, is delighted with how the camp has got on so far.

He explained: “It is really rewarding to not only see the huge number of participants but more importantly to see all of the kids enjoying themselves and going home with smiles on their faces.”

He added “The coaches on the camp deserve huge credit also as they develop a great relationship with the kids who are enrolled on the camp. They are on first name basis after day one which helps a lot”. Shane said the camps are about not only developing football skills but also letting kids enjoy themselves. “We are viewed as an affordable camp which offers fun, laughter and security to both the children and their parents. The camp has a tremendous reputation and we are eager to continue this trend,” he added.

The Easter camp finishes this coming Friday, April 21st. However the camp will return for eight weeks in the summer, with four weeks of camps taking place in both July and August. For more information, you can contact Shane at Sligo Rovers on 071- 9171212.
