EXCITEMENT BUILDING FOR THE ALL IRELAND CONFINED FESTIVAL IN TUBBERCURRY

-

THE stage is set, the theatre awaits and the actors, directors, stage crews and audiences are on their way to The All- Ireland ( Confined) Drama Finals in Tubbercurry. St Brigid’s Hall Theatre is the venue for this annual gathering of drama groups and enthusiasts, who travel from all over the country, to enjoy the very best of amateur productions.

Audiences will love the plays and groups that have qualified for the finals after successfully competing on the festival circuit. Billy Kilgannon Festival Chairman said ‘ in the programme there are plays to suit everybody’s taste’. He went on to say that ‘ six of the nine plays are new to Tubbercurry and we are expecting a large influx of visitors to the town for the festival with many accommodation providers already heavily booked’.

The adjudicator for the festival is the vastly experienced Imelda McDonagh from the Association of Drama Adjudicators.

For the festival, with the sponsorship of Tubbercurry and District Credit Union, the entire town is being transformed into a Drama Themed Town. Visitors and local people alike will be fascinated by the imaginative and artistic creations on display in the shop windows.

Through the duration of the festival an extensive exhibition of art by local artists will be on display in St Brigid’s Hall as well as a number of other fringe events.

Of course, the drama doesn’t stop in the theatre. Nightly, after the play, Killorans, Traditional Bar and Restaurant, Teeling St. is the venue for the Festival Club where the groups and audiences mingle and provide outstanding impromptu entertainment.

The festival opens on Friday 21st April and continues nightly until 29th at 8pm except closing night when curtain up is at 7pm. Booking is with the Hawks Well 071 9161518. Season tickets are sold out but individual night seats are still available priced at € 15.
