THE President’s Prize Padraic Hurley was played on Saturday/Sunday 1st/2nd July weather conditions were ideal for golf and the golf played was of the highest order there was a good turnout of members format this year was a straight 18 Holes Stableford and the winner to emerge was Michael Cunnane on 40pts with birdies on the 4th, 7th and 10th 2nd place went to Eamon Scanlon on 38pts 3rd place to Trevor Mattimoe on 37pts 4th place to John Joe Jinks on 36pts and 5th place to Paul O’Reilly on 36pts first nine went to Seamus Connolly on 20pts

THE Ladies Junior Foursomes team take on Ballinaslo­e in the Connacht Semi Final this Saturday 8th July. PRESIDENT’S Day.

LAST Sunday saw our President Mr Dermot Fallon host his Presidents’ Day. The weather was kind and the course was in fantastic shape thanks to John and his team. After the first round of 18, leading the pack was Tony Wasyalocha with a net score of 70. Nearest to him were three men four shots back Paul Mullen, Jim McLoughlin and Alan Taffee with two men Alan Martin and Gabriel Sheeran one further back. After the fourteen men in the 9 hole playoff had their score in it was left to one man Paul Mullen to leapfrog to the front with a great playoff score of 33 to win 2017 Presidents prize with a score of 107. Second place went to Tony Wasyalocha with a score of 108. Third was Gabirel Sheeran 109. Forth Was Alan Martin 109 and fifth was Jim McLoughlin 110. In the ladies competitio­n winner with a big score of 41pts was Joan oDowd. In second was Loretto Brennan and in third was Ann Mullen. Winner of the junior prize was Darragh Connolly with a great score of 71. NATIONAL 4ball inter club

NEXT Saturday our National 4ball inter club team captained by Niall Walsh take on Ballina golf club in the Connaght Final of the competitio­n. On Saturday the five matches are away in Ballina so anyone that’s free are welcome to come along and support the lads. Best of luck to Niall and all team on Saturday. The home leg if the following Saturday 15th July with the five matches in Castledarg­an.

ON Sunday 2nd July the Midsummer Classic Fundraiser took place on a bright and breezy day on Strandhill Links.
