Parish priest takes up residence in new parochial home

-

The parish priest in Keash/ Culfadda has taken up residence in the new parochial house.

Father Gabriel wishes to express his delight at now being in a position to reside in this, his new home.

He wishes to thank everyone for their dedication and support in having this house erected.

The support to Fr. Gabriel in the erection of this house, helps reflect the desire of the people of Keash and Culfadda to having a full-time priest, present in their community.

In a time where we see closure of banks and other facilities, it give hope to rural communities in particular, when projects of this type are brought to completion.

It provides hope in handing on our community to the next generation; that there is a desire within a parish to strive forward.

The generations before us, handed down these facilities for our benefit.

They had very little money, but still ensured one way or another to do so.

Without this desire from within a community, there is a serious risk that we wont have churches, schools, post offices, banks and so on in 15/20 years to come (or maybe much sooner!).

We wont have communities, if we don’t have reason to come together.

Schools, churches and so on, bring members of the community together.

Communities are always stronger when people are in communication and without reason to meet, communication becomes more difficult. This house will be there for the benefit of the people of Keash and Culfadda for many years to come.

It is hoped that this house will have a full-time resident priest for many, many years.

Thank you to Fr. Gabriel for the massive effort he made in completing this project.

No one will ever understand the effort he made in having this house completed to its present wonderful standard.

Anyone building a house in particular, will understand the difficulties that arise and the time constraints involved.
