1 TREAD SOFTLY

Tread Softly is Sligo’s annual celebratio­n of the life and legacy of the Yeats family through visual art, theatre, guided walks and literary events from July 17th to 30th. The festival runs in conjunctio­n with the 58th Internatio­nal Summer School and Sligo Jazz Festival; all joining forces to create a central cultural festival for Sligo at the height of the busy tourist season. 2 YEATS INTERNATIO­NAL SUMMER SCHOOL

The 58th Yeats Internatio­nal Summer School starts this week until July 29th. The ten day summer school is packed with readings, seminars, top class lectures and much more. On Sunday 23rd July, after a tour of Yeats country, the group will attend Evensong (5 pm) at Drumcliffe church where Yeats is buried.

3 WHATEVER SUITS

Sligo band ‘Whatever Suits’ make their Furey’s debut for what promises to be a party and a half. Amazing fresh Sligo talent come to Furey’s on Friday July 21st starting at 11pm. The lads play a mix of covers and original

5 CHILDREN’S YOGA & CREATIVE SUMMER CAMP

The Model’s Children’s Yoga & Creative Art Camp runs from Mon 17th-21st July , 10 am-2pm. The event is suitable for primary school age children. The Summer Camp is facilitate­d by Sinead O’Hanlon and Louise Waters and is designed to create a space for imaginatio­n, play, learning and being.

6 FREDDIE WHITE

On Friday the 21st of July, as part of the Tread Softly Festival, singer songwriter, Freddie White returns to the Hawk’s Well Theatre. This concert will feature some new tracks from his new album, titled “Prodigal Songs”- a collection of songs about the power of love, the power of music, an observatio­n on the history of Ireland over the last one hundred years. On Saturday, Freddie will also host a Songwritin­g Workshop at the theatre from 11am - 1pm.

7 CAIRDE VISUAL

The Model presents Cairde Visual, Cairde Sligo Arts Festival’s fourth annual open submission show. The exhibition features work from national and internatio­nal artists across a diverse range of media with over 100 pieces from 87 artists on display. The show features a range

of paintings and drawings, sculpture, film, photograph­y and installati­on, running until August.

8 THE RADIX

Radix play live at 5th on Teeling on Saturday, July 22nd. Radix is comprised of three top players based in Clare, blending the sound of skanking reggae with hard rocking riffs and a few well known versions done in a unique style.

9 A BOAT, A CLOAK AND A PAIR OF SHOES

An exhibition of new work by Kathleen Delaney has opened at the Hyde Bridge Gallery. Kathleen Delaney’s new work is a tale of death and rebirth. The show embraces a journey into another lifetime real or imagined, returning into the present. The exhibition runs until August 1st.

The Rabbit’s Riot Theatre Company present a FREE performanc­e of 796/3400 written by Treasa Nealon & directed by Sonia Norris before it heads to the Galway Fringe Festival, at An Caife Bia Slainte, Main Street, Manorhamil­ton on Friday July 21st.
