Lavins and Currids celebrate 70 combined years in business
TWO stalwarts of the Ballymote business community celebrated 70 years of success between them at a special street party in the town last Friday.
Lavins Outfitters run by John Lavin marked their 60 th anniversary in existence while Currids Pharmacy, run by Shane Currid celebrated ten years in business.
The family-owned Lavins opened their doors to the public in 1957 and has served customers from all across the North West ever since.
They survived the recession and extended the premises ten years ago by adding on a new suit department designed by Irish Times Design Shopfitters.
In 2016 Lavins Outfitters won the coveted best Retail Premises in Sligo Award in The Sligo Champion Business Awards.
John and his staff shared the celebrations with their customers with a special sale on the day.
Shane Currid is a native of Ballymote and was proud to move back to his home town in 2007 and open up his own pharmacy there.
Currid’s Totalhealth Pharmacy decided to throw a party and arranged a street fiesta last Friday 2-5pm.
There was face painting, DJ Sparks, nibbles, hourly giveaways and discounts of up to 50 per cent on products. The dual celebration attracted many loyal customers, locals and visitors who were happy to pick up a bargain and entertain their children.
