Curry win Division Four

-

Furey’s Coaches Division 4 final effort from close range was well blocked on the line by DRP corner back Shane Creamer.

Drumcliffe/Rosses Point, who had come into this final with a 100% record in the league (including a win against the same opposition earlier in the season), stayed in contention thanks to some fine points from play from half forwards Eoin Gaughan and Donal Gallagher.

They also got the perfect start to the second half when full forward Alan O’Dowd found the net two minutes in. The goal moved Drumcliffe/Rosses Point four clear at that stage but Curry responded with four unanswered points from the impressive Henry and Brendan Brogan. Further scores from Danny O’Hara and Henry again gave Curry real control by this stage.

DRP hinted briefly at a rally through points from Gaughan and substitute Brian Monaghan but Curry keeper Declan Haran made a couple of crucial saves in the closing quarter to help keep the league leaders at bay.

Curry’s goal, which proved to be the decisive score, arrived eight minutes from the end when Drumcliffe failed to deal properly with a high ball in, and the ball eventually fell in front of Brendan Brogan who was able to finish to an empty net from close range.

Drumcliffe/Rosses Point captain David Collins was black carded in the closing moments and two more Tommy Henry points put the icing on the cake for Curry.
