THE Martin Cahill memorial trophy was on during the past week, starting on Sunday 30th July and concluding on Saturday 5th August. It was a very successful week for the golf club despite inclement weather. There were stories of high scores and putts missed intermingled with yarns of the late Martin’s with. The general opinion was that a score of 90 would not be reached. The competition is sponsored by Paddy Colleran of Colleran pharmacy Charlestown. Paddy and the late Martin were lifelong playing and travelled widely in pursuit of their hobby and as they often uttered “gone on a course” to explain their absence. Martin’s sisters Patricia and Bernie travelled from Chicago and Letterkenny to be present for the presentation RESULTS
