DVD OF WALK

A DVD of a walk from Ballina to Tubbercurry in May 1997 retracing the route taken by the famous racehorse, Ballyara Lad, transporting grain from Ballina to Tubbercurry during the Great Famine, is now available in the following outlets: Gillespies, Surlis’ SuperValu, Murphy’s Spar, K & B Hardware, Killoran’s Restaurant, Daybreak and Barry’s Pharmacy.

The DVD also includes a re-enactment of an eviction scene at Lough Talt by members of the Phoenix Players.

All Proceeds are in aid of the Concern Famine in East Africa Relief Appeal.

COUNTRY MARKET

Drummartin Country Market (9km out the Ballina road from Tubbercurry, on right besides Joe Dan’s Pub) is open every Saturday, from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

The fundraiser on 29th July for The Sligo Rose, Lisa Maloney, was a great success, between the raffle, donations and tea money €325 was raised. So a massive thank you to all for the support on the day, it was really appreciated. And Lisa is wished the best of luck in Tralee from all in the market.

As usual they have a fantastic range of home baked goods, free range eggs, organic dexter beef, organic lamb and organic vegetables by Crimlin Farm, Rose’s plants, wood turned products, Jackie’s baskets and many other crafts from knitted to printed.
