Kasia’s first solo exhibition opens at Hyde Gallery
SLIGO based artist Kasia McArt is currently hosting her first solo exhibition in Ireland at the Hyde Bridge Gallery, Hyde Bridge.
The photographer turned artist works with both new and reclaimed wood for her pieces which are influenced by abstract art and the cubist movement.
The exhibition, ‘Pixelate’ is a 3D embodiment of her photographic or imaginary images. The picturesque landscape of Sligo inspired Kasia’s photography and its evolution into woodwork and it continues to influence her sculptures.
This can be seen through her new art piece, ‘Benbulben’ which represents the landscape of the mountain from a view in Strandhill.
Kasia uses wood burning to highlight the unique grains in the timber and acrylics giving the wood a unique coloration each time. She paints all the wood blocks by hand to achieve that perfect colour. All pieces are hand sanded and painted.
The image is then created by connecting and alligning individual pieces of wood like a puzzle. A variety of cubic forms, alligned in an assortment of patterns are used to create the final image, a pixelate version.
Kasia has previously exhibited at the Found Gallery in Scotland, the Art and Craft Centre in Clare. Her pieces are displayed Worldwide in private residences and as focal points in business receptions/hotels. She works with leading art consultants and interior decorators in the U.S. and U.K.
Due to demand, Kasia works mainly on commission.
