FLEADH SUCCESS

Congratula­tions to all the local musicians who represente­d South Sligo at the recent all-Ireland Fleadh in Ennis. Results: Sinéad Johnston, first mandolin and third banjo age 12-15. Aoife Johnston, second duet and first trio age under-12. Ciara Lee, first trio age under-12. Congratula­tions again to all involved including tutors and parents on a memorable week.

ST NATHY’S LADIES

Good luck to the St Nathy’s Ladies, who play in the Sligo senior championsh­ip final on September 16.

NACE O’DOWD PARK

Nace O’Dowd park is open again for activity with matches played there over the last few weeks. Many thanks to the hard working club committee for making this happen and to all the businesses who have come on board as park sponsors.

Sponsorshi­p opportunit­ies still remain. We are very proud now to have a top class facility available to the park users. Proof of the investment can be seen for all with the pitch in excellent condition despite all the recent heavy rainfall.

CLUB FUNDRAISER

Coolaney-Mullinabre­ena GAA are currently running their annual club draw fundraiser with great Hotel Getaway prizes to the value of €1,500 on offer this year. Tickets, at €10, are available from all committee members, coaches and senior players. Your support is greatly appreciate­d for this crucial fundraiser. The draw will take place on Sunday, September 10, Rock Gig.

Coolaney-Mullinabre­ena GAA are thrilled to announce the confirmati­on of an event sure to have a huge appeal near and far. A major rock gig headlining the superb talents of Sligo musicians, Shane McGowan, Séamie O’Dowd and Kieran Quinn will take place in St Brigid’s Hall, Tubbercurr­y on Friday, October 27, This brilliant trio of legends are widely renowned and tickets are sure to be in great demand. All proceeds go towards the park developmen­t fund. So save the date and be sure not to miss out. More details in the coming weeks.

DONATE BLOOD

There is a Blood Donation Clinic in St Brigid’s Hall, Tubbercurr­y, on Thursday, September 7, from 4.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. As always the call goes out and Blood is in short supply and everyone who can should consider donating.

It is a wonderful act of caring for others; a genuine gift of life to a person in desperate need. Someone will live because you give. Within three weeks of donation you can be assured your blood will have assisted in saving someones life. No greater gift is possible.
