Nineteen year old is sent for trial on false imprisonment charge
A 19-year-old man has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court on false imprisonment and assault charges.
Harry Andrews (right) of 57 Glendallon, Ballytivnan appeared in custody at Sligo District Court last Thursday having been remanded from a summer vacation court sitting.
Andrews is charged with falsely imprisoning a 16-year-old boy at his home in Glendallon on April 23rd and with assault causing harm to the alleged victim.
State Solicitor Mr Hugh Sheridan told the court that the book of evidence in the case had been served on the accused.
Judge Kevin Kilrane sent Andrews forward for trial to the Circuit Court beginning on December 12 th in Sligo and remanded the accused in custody.
Mr Tom MacSharry, solicitor (defending) earlier stated there would be no application for bail. Andrews also pleaded guilty to other summary charges of theft, burglary and possession of a knife and these cases were put back to a sitting of Harristown District Court on September 15 th for onward adjournment for sentencing in Sligo. The Judge ordered a probation report and any other report which may be able to assist the defendant including a psychiatric one. The accused’s father, Michael Andrews (74) is also accused of false imprisonment of the boy and assault on the teenager causing him harm. He was remanded on bail previously to Sligo District Court on September 14.
