WELCOME BACK
A big welcome back to all following another highly successful summer camp and well-earned break. Well done to all involved. We are now all looking forward to a new and busy term at the Avalon Centre.
MUSICAL THEATRE
A new and exciting musical theatre programme for 10-17-year-olds will be starting soon. It’s a great opportunity to have fun and make new friends as well as develop a range of performance skills including acting, dancing, singing, comedy, improvisation and mime. We have top tutors and guaranteed performance slots in the sell-out Avalon Centre production ‘Our Show’.
The programme will run on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. And on Thursdays from 6.45 p.m. to 8.45 p.m. starting week beginning September 18 and will run for 12 weeks. YOUTH CLUBS
Our Junior Youth Club meets on Monday and Wednesday from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Senior Youth Club meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
PARENT/TODDLER GROUPS
The parent and toddler group meets on Monday morning from 10.30 a.m. to midday. Everyone welcome. The parent and toddler group also meet on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12.30. Contact Paula at 071 9161836 for further details.
DANCE CLASSES
Our dance classes have returned on Monday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. is for six- to nine-year-olds and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for nine- to 12-year-olds. Contact the centre for further details.
SINGING
Singing classes return today, Tuesday, September 12, classes for eight- to 11-year-olds are from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. And for 11- to 14-year-olds from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Again, contact the centre for further details.
FLAMENCO DANCING
Flamenco Dancing lessons have started. They take place between 7 p.m. And 8 p.m. on Thursday nights. Contact 083 4680924 for further information.
SELF-DEFENCE CLASSES
Krav Maga Self-defence classes start on tomorrow night, Wednesday, September 13, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Contact 087 0659709 for more details.
SOCIAL DAY CENTRE
Our social day centre provides older people with improved quality of life through opportunities for socialising and lifelong learning. It also provides them with a place to engage with their peers and promotes inclusion and integration of older people in the life of the community.
The centre also aims to improve the mental health and well-being of older people and combat feelings of loneliness and isolation. The social day centre runs four days per week, Monday to Thursday from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Contact the centre for further details. The programme is partly funded by the HSE and supported by the Department of Social Protection.
BINGO
Bingo continues every Friday night from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Double books cost €15, single books €10, half books €5 and single sheets €1. There is also a raffle on the night.
BOWLING
The St Anne’s Men’s Bowling Club meets ever Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the centre. Just call in on the day.
