NOVENA OF HOPE
The very popular ninth annual Killenummery and Killery Parish Pastoral Council Novena of Hope takes place to St Therese of Lisieux will take place in St Therese’s Church Ballintogher every evening at 7.30 p.m. from Sunday, September 24, to Tuesday, October 3.

LOUGH SWIM
The second annual Glencar Lough Swim will take place on this Saturday, September 16, in Glencar Lake.
The Glencar Lough Swim is being promoted in aid of the MS North West Therapy Centre, Ballytivnan Sligo, whose services are invaluable for so many people in the local North Leitrim and Sligo region.
Registration for the Glencar Lough Swim will be at 10 a.m. at the Tea Shed on Saturday morning and the Swim will start from the Boat House. For swimmers who wish to participate in the two kilometre Glencar Lough Swim there are 180 places in it for them to do.
The Glencar Lough Swim is organised by former Glencar resident, Shane Sweeney, who is a MS North West Therapy Centre physiotherapist.
ON BROKEN WINGS
Cavan’s Hacklers Drama Group will present ‘On Broken Wings’ by late North Sligo based writer and poet, Dermot Healy in the Rainbow Ballroom Glenfarne on this Saturday night, September 16, at 8.30 p.m.
This evocative play is set on the Mullet Peninsula in Mayo and will be performed by the group which Healy founded. It is directed by Healy’s friend Dermot O’Brien. This event is part of ‘The Fierce Moon’ Festival, a celebration of the writings of Dermot Healy, organised by the Glens Centre Manorhamilton. LURGANBOY DONATION
Following the staging of the recent ‘Blessing of the Pets’ special religious service in Lurganboy Chapel of Ease a donation of €170 from a collection at the religious service was presented to the Leitrim Animal Welfare Centre, Drumkeerin.
Leitrim Animal Welfare Centre secretary, Laura Burke received the Lurganboy donation from Caroline and Jennifer Durneen whom she gratefully thanked.

The Manorhamilton Girls Brigade starts its new season on Thursday evening, September 21, in the Bee Park Community Centre; between 6.30 p.m. And 7.30 p.m. for three to eight years old and between 7.30 p.m. and 9 p.m. for nine to 18 years old.
