Silver lining for talented Designer

- By SORCHA CROWLEY

THEY say every cloud has a silver lining and that certainly holds true for local Modafix blogger Tríona O’Donnell.

When her teaching hours were low last year, she used the time to design and create her very own range of jewellery.

The months of hard work paid off with the launch last week of her new design brand, TRÍONA.

Her first collection is aptly enough entitled ‘Silver Linings’.

It was officially launched in The Driftwood Restaurant, Rosses Point last Wednesday, 25 th October.

“My collection is my silver lining. Iused the free time to pursue something Ialways wanted to do.

“It’s about looking on the bright side of life,” she told The Sligo Champion.

She describes TRÍONA as a new Irish design brand encompassing a life-long appreciation of Irish craft and design, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.

Tríona works with a com- munity of like-minded designer-makers, creative trailblazers and collaborators and is inspired by the landscape of her native county.

She partners with goldsmith Soraya Ricalde of Leitrim Sculpture Centre and sculptor Marion Fink of Counties of Ireland Jewellery to create her delicate, resolved designs.

Each piece is handmade in Ireland at Leitrim Sculpture Centre.

The pièce de résistance of her Silver Linings Collection is a solid silver frame, housing a piece of delicate, filigreed lichen between miniature panes of glass.

“I knew I wanted to work with glass and a photo in a frame is so special. It’s like a little piece of home,” she said.
