Top drama groups set for One Act Fest

THE Western Drama Festival committee is busy preparing for the 2017 One Act Drama Festival.

The festival runs from Thursday 16 th to Saturday 18th of November.

The committee are delighted that the drama season is commencing with an excellent programme of plays on offer for patrons to enjoy.

Already there is a brilliant buzz and air of expectatio­n for the coming drama season in the Tubbercurr­y area.

the festival is a huge hit and receives fantastic support from the people and businesses in South Sligo and environs for drama events.

Ciaran McCauley, Sligo native, will be adjudicati­ng the event.

Patrons will enjoy his skill for theatre. Ciaran has gained a wealth of hands on experience in all aspects of theatre and boasts profession­al theatre training including the Ecole de Mime Corporeal Dramatique, London with Corrine Soum and Steve Wasson, at the Saratoga Internatio­nal Theatre Institute, New York with Anne Bogart and at the Roy Hart Theatre of Voice in Malargues, France. He also has an MA in Drama and Performanc­e from UCD.

His performanc­e credits in theatre, film and radio are extensive, and he even featured in Conor McDermottr­oe’s ‘Halal Daddy’ which was filmed in Sligo.

Ciaran has been a core member of Blue Raincoat Theatre Company since 1991. The Western Drama Festival is delighted to welcome Ciaran to adjudicate at our 2017 festival.

The Festival opens in St Brigid’s Hall Theatre on the Thursday and continues until Saturday 18th nightly at 8pm.

The festival opens with some very popular western groups; D.a.d.s. Dunmore performing “What Would You Do if I sang out of Tune” written by the wellknown John McDwyer - Clann Machua, Kiltimagh with “Hunger March” by Michael Bodenstein and Glenamaddy players with” the Donahue Sisters “by Geraldine Aaron.
