Young men had drugs

-

TWO young men from Donegal found in possession of drugs in Sligo had their cases adjourned for monitoring.

Martin Larkin (24), Assaroe View, Ballyshannon admitted having €40 worth of ecstasy at Teeling Street on October 18th 2016 while Odhran O’Donnell (23) with an address in Bunbeg, Donegal admitted having €20 worth of the drug on the same occasion.

Inspector Dennis Harrington said that in Larkin’s case the drug was in powder form.

Ms Laura Spellman, solicitor (defending) pleaded that the defendant had issues with alcohol and drugs in his past.

He did a 30 day residential programme and did follow up courses and attended meetings as required.

He had applied for a job with the HSE but Garda vetting came against him but he wished to reapply but a conviction would rule him out.

Judge Kevin Kilrane adjourned the case for monitoring to May 31st and said he would apply the Probation Act then if there was nothing further. The Judge also adjourned the case against O’Donnell to the same date.

Mr John Anderson, solicitor (defending) said the defednant, who was studying science and psychology, had €300 in court.

Judge Kilrane told Mr Anderson to hold on to the money and to address him again about striking out the matter totally next May.
